Chain of Custody Training

JMJ Laboratories Limited provide a comprehensive chain of custody training course.  Samples when collected must be linked to individuals beyond all reasonable doubt, our training sessions address the procedure to follow to ensure this is maintained.

The course is aimed at individuals who are required to make sample collections, attendees do not need to be medically trained, but must receive adequate training prior to sample collection.

JMJ Laboratories Chain of Custody(CoC) training will provide individuals with protocol to ensure that both donor and collecting officer are protected from any claims of bias or cheating, should a result be contested. In addition to this attendees will also be :-

  • Provided with the knowledge of how to prepare a site ready for testing,
  • Educated with the reasons why such procedures need to be put in place,
  • Provided with a step-by-step guide to the sample collection,
  • Understand potential problems and how to solve them.

Training can also be provided incorporating Near Donor Testing (Instant Test) kits into the chain of custody procedure. NDT kits can produce instant test results, providing an instant on-the-spot result which may be beneficial in some situations.  JMJ Laboratories would strongly recommend that any non negative results taken from an NDT instant test device should be confirmed by GC-MS analysis. laboratory testing still provides a superior service and more accurate and consistent results.

The training course will end will a short chain of custody test, which upon successful completion, attendees will be given a certificate of attendance, JMJ Laboratories also provide a chain of custody procedure along checklists and all documentation required to carry out a collection..

The course duration is usually 3 hours however this can be tailored to suit your requirements.  The training sessions can be held at either JMJ Laboratories or a site of your choice.  We would generally advise a maximum of ten people per training session.  To receive more information or to book a training session please email info@jmjlabs.co.uk or telephone 01873 856688
